About NTPC-SAIL Power Company Limited (NSPCL)
NTPC Ltd formed a joint venture with SAIL on 50:50 basis in March, 2001 in the name NTPC-SAIL Power Company Limited (NSPCL). NSPCL took over captive power plant-II located at Durgapur Steel Plant (2X60 MW) and Rourkela Steel Plant (2X60 MW) from SAIL.
NTPC Ltd formed another joint venture company with SAIL on 50:50 basis in March, 2002 in the name of Bhilai Electric Supply Company (P) Ltd. (BESCL). BESCL took over captive power plant-II located at Bhilai Steel Plant (2X30 MW + 1X14 MW BPTG) from SAIL. With effect from 11th September, 2006, BESCL was amalgamated with NSPCL and all properties, licenses, permissions, debt, liabilities etc. with respect to BESCL now rests in NSPCL.
NSPCL added 2×250 MW Thermal Power Plant at Bhilai which was commissioned in the year 2009. NSPCL further added 1×250 MW Captive Thermal Power Plant at Rourkela and 1×20 MW at Durgapur in the year 2022. Another 1×20 MW unit at Durgapur was commissioned in March’24.
