Number of Courts (total as well as Sub-divisions-wise):Bankura Sadar : 17 & one(1) Child Friendly Court(POCSO), one(1) Family Court. Bishnupur : 6 , Khatra : 6 & one(1) Child Friendly Court(POCSO). As learnt from the local sources, the Court Buildings of the District Judge and of the Magistrate (the existing old Treasury Building) were built in the year 1807. The then District Judge and the District Magistrate was Mr. Willam Blunt. Mr. Brajendra Kumar Sil was the District Judge of Bankura during the period 1881 to 1888 followed by Mr. G. W .Plash in the year 1889. The Chair of the District Judge of this Judgeship were even occupied by eminent I.C.S. Officers like Mr. Annada Shankar Roy for the period 1941 to 1943. The present District Judge’s Court and the District Sub-Judge’s Court [(presently the Court of the Civil Judge (Senior Division)] are functioning under the same roof.Established in the year 1870. Bar Association Established in 1855.
