Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TNSET)
TNSET is conducted to ensure that only the most qualified and competent candidates are selected for the role of Assistant Professors. It is held once a year and consists of two papers – Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is common for all candidates and tests the teaching and research aptitude of the candidates. Paper II assesses the candidate’s knowledge in their chosen subject.

TNSET Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates holding a Master’s Degree or equivalent from UGC-recognized universities/ institutions with at least 55% marks (unrounded) are eligible for the test. SC/ SC(A)/ ST/ PwD/ Third gender category candidates with a minimum of 50% marks (unrounded) are also eligible.
- Candidates pursuing their Master’s degree, awaiting results, or facing delays in qualifying examinations may apply provisionally. However, they must obtain the required marks within two years from the TNSET result date.
- Ph.D. degree holders completing their Master’s Level examination before 19th September 1991 are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks, lowering the requirement to 50%.
- Candidates are advised to choose the subject of their Post-Graduation for the TNSET examination. If their subject is not listed, they may opt for the UGC-NET/ joint CSIR-UGC Test.
- Candidates holding post-graduate diplomas/ certificates from Indian or foreign universities/ institutes should verify the equivalence of their qualification with recognized Indian universities through the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

- Open the official website @ www.tnsetau.in
- Then click on the Registration link in the menu, enter your email, and set the password
- Then you will receive a confirmation mail from TN-SET
- Click the confirmation mail which will take you to the TN-SET website
- Now login with the password used for registration and complete the filling of the application form
- Upload legible scanned images mentioned in the notification
- Then proceed to payment
- Lastly, submit all your details
