Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Indian citizen.
• Age 21‑40 years as on the date of advertisement.
• Class VIII pass ( recognised school). Knowledge of reading & writing Bengali is required for all districts except Kalimpong where it is not stipulated.
• Valid LMV or HMV driving licence held for at least 03 years as on the date of advertisement.
• Minimum 03 years of driving experience with documentary proof.
• Permanent resident of West Bengal (preference given to local candidates in certain districts).

Selection Process & Screening Clause

The selection will be conducted in two stages:

• Driving Test – 20 marks.
• Interview – 20 marks.

Total marks: 40. Shortlisted candidates will be called for both stages. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of the combined scores. Provisionally selected candidates must undergo a Medical Fitness Test and submit a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) as directed.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the Driving Test and Interview.

• All Degree and Consolidated Mark Sheets (Relevant Qualifications)
• Experience Certificates on Official Letterhead (if applicable)

• Two recent passport-size photographs & Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar / Voter ID / PAN)

Additional self‑attested copies of driving licence, residential proof, educational certificates and experience certificates may be required as per the specific unit notice.

1. What are the important dates for applying to the WB Police Driver (Contractual) posts?
   Applications are accepted at unit‑wise drop boxes. Fixed closing dates range from 18.10.2026 to 05.11.2026; most units allow 14 days after notice publication.
2. Where should the offline application form be submitted?
   The prescribed Annexure‑I must be submitted in person to the designated drop box of the concerned district police office or battalion (e.g., Motor Transport Section, Balurghat Police Lines for Dakshin Dinajpur). No separate walk‑in reporting time applies.

   No application fee is charged (Rs. 0 – exempted).
4. What is the nature of the engagement and contract duration?
   The post is purely temporary and contractual for 01 (one) year. Renewal depends on satisfactory performance and no claim for regularisation will be entertained.
5. What is the salary structure for the Driver (Contractual) post?
   Consolidated professional fee is Rs. 16,000 per month (subject to statutory deductions). No additional allowances are provided.
