Sainik School of Gujarat was established in the year 1961 in Jamnagar. The School is located in the Balachadi Estate which is 32 kms away from Jamnagar. The Balachadi Estate was formerly a sea side summer resort that belonged to the rulers of Nawanagar. The estate comprises of 426 acres of land in the mangrove rich coastal belt of Saurashtra. Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the then Prime Minister of India, presented the school its colour on 07 Mar 1965.
