Tobacco Board, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh was established on 1 January 1976, under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce, Government of India.
The Board functions for maintenance and improvement of existing markets also development of new markets outside India for virginia tobacco and its products devising of marketing strategy in consonance with demand for the commodity outside country. They also promoting the grading of tobacco by Sponsoring, Assisting, Coordinating and encouraging Scientific, Technological and Economic Research for the Promotion of Tobacco Industry.
The prime objective of Board is to regulate the production and caring of Virginia Tobacco with regard to the demand in India and Abroad, by purchasing virginia tobacco from grower considered necessary or expedient for protecting the interest of the grower and disposing it in India and abroad.
